It is located on the outskirts of the village in tranquil and peaceful setting, within walking distance to the picturesque centre and close to a supermarket. The village square, two shops, and taverns are five minutes walk away. The closest sandy beach is a short drive away (9km) in Almyrida, the longest sandy beach in Georgioupolis is just 11,5km away and for a refreshing swim one can admire the turquoise waters of the bay of Ombrosgialos, just 5,5km away.

The community of Kefalas is situated approx. 4 km to the east of Vamos. It is a large village built in an outstanding position facing the sea with architecture dominated by the influence of the early and late years of the Turkish occupation. This influence is well preserved despite the existence of other architectural styles. The village is living the whole year around and kafenia, taverns and supermarkets can be found there. A short drive away, one will reach Ombrosgialos, a beautiful bay of turquoise water and in the other direction are the long sandy beaches of Georgioupolis.

Almirida (sometimes spelled as Almyrida) is a small village in the Apokoronas province, with 3 shallow beaches. The village looks out over the sea and the Akrotiri peninsula. There are some waterside taverns, a few bars and a couple of hotels. In Almirida you can also find the remains of an early Christian basilica from the 5th century, with mosaics and some pillars.

Vamos is located away from the hustle of the towns and tourists. It is an unspoilt Cretan village with views of the Lefka Ori (White Mountains), and has many traditional buildings. One will find some interesting churches, clearly showing the traditional architecture of the buildings in the area. The hospitality and Cretan way of life is captured in these villages. The area is very scenic, having maintained its traditional character, mainly due to the sympathetic restoration of old buildings.
