Location:

Chalepa is a quiet, lovely and historical suburb of Chania. The nobility is inspired from the large buildings with the neoclassical architecture and the important people that lived in this region.

Here the revolutionaries calling for the union of Crete with Greece rallied for the first time in 1897, and also the Greek flag was raised here in February 1913 to mark the achievement for their aspirations.

Furthermore the memorial and tombs of Eleftherios Venizelos and his son Sofoklis are located here. Close by in the village of Kounoupidiana is a good selection of shops, restaurants and other services, and is in addition home to The Polytechnic University of Crete.
